Meet Radka
Hello! I’m Radka, the manager here at Southbourne Care Home.
Care runs deeply in my family; my mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother were all nurses or healthcare assistants. Watching them work as I grew up sparked a lifelong passion for elderly care. Today, I have over 14 years of residential and nursing care experience spanning both the United Kingdom and the Czech Republic. I am originally from Pilsen, the birthplace of Pilsner beer, and I like to think growing up there gave me a natural instinct for the importance of keeping people well-hydrated! I hold a Level in nursing along with a qualification from a medical lyceum, which included training across multiple hospital wards at the University Hospital. To build on this, I am currently working towards my NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and management for adult care.
My history with this company is deep; I started my UK care career at Choice Care Home in 2018 as a healthcare assistant. I then spent a few years working across the UK to gain broader experience before returning in 2022 as deputy manager at Southbourne Care Home. In 2023, I was promoted to care manager. Having progressed all the way from a healthcare assistant to a manager, I bring a well-rounded understanding of day-to-day care and know how important each staff member is.
My management style is centred on an open and honest culture. I believe in leading by example, fostering visible leadership on the floor, and ensuring my team feels empowered. While I might be the face of the home, I am incredibly proud of my team, they are the ones who truly make this a warm, welcoming home for our residents on a daily basis. Having climbed the ranks myself, nothing makes me happier than seeing my staff progress in their own careers.
I have recently returned to the home following my maternity leave. Outside of work, my time is focused on my new family. I live in Brixham, and I love nothing more than spending my free time outdoors, enjoying long walks with my family and our dog.
Meet Megan
Hello, my name is Megan Clarke, and I am 26 years of age. With a passion for caregiving that began in 2018, I have dedicated my career to enhancing others' lives. My journey in health and social care started with my studies at school and has progressed to an NVQ Level 3 qualification. Since joining Beechcroft Care Homes in 2020, during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, I was able to demonstrate resilience and commitment to my role.
I have progressed from a care assistant to senior staff and am currently the deputy manager at Southbourne Care Home. I thrive on improving residents' quality of life, focusing on building strong relationships with both residents and their families. Supporting my team to achieve these goals is a priority for me.
Outside of work, I recently purchased my first home with my partner, and I enjoy dedicating my spare time to home improvement projects. Travel is also a passion of mine; I love exploring new destinations through holidays and city breaks. Quality time with family, both mine and my partner's, is essential to me, as I believe in fostering strong connections with loved ones.
